Why it pairs well with black
The crystal is coarse enough to read as movement rather than as pattern, which lets it sit beside a flat black without competing. In a kitchen it is the standard perimeter to a Black Galaxy or Absolute Black island. In a lobby it takes the floor while black takes the reception desk and the lift surrounds.
The grey carries a faint blue cast under cool artificial light and a warmer one under daylight. If the stone is being matched to a paint colour or a cabinet finish, look at the sample under the light the room will actually have, not under a showroom spotlight.
Finish, and how it behaves
It is far more forgiving than any black. Polished shows almost no fingerprints, and honed hides everyday marks well enough to be a reasonable choice for a family kitchen. Flamed or bush-hammered lightens it considerably and takes it outdoors.
